The Cubs are loaded with young talent and have so much talent that not everyone can crack the 25-man roster in Chicago.

Cubs manager Joe Maddon believes Javier Baez could help the Cubs defensively, but it remains unclear when the young infielder will actuall get his chance.

"Javy can make any defense better," Maddon told Cubs.com. "I talked about that in camp – I thought he was one of the finest young infielders I've seen, but I'm not displeased with anybody out there right now. Sometimes you just have to wait your opportunity, your turn.

"From Javy's perspective, the biggest thing he has to do is stay ready."

So far Baez has done that as he's hiting .296 in 19 games with Triple-A Iowa.
