Published Aug. 9, 2010 11:21 p.m. ET

The Houston Astros have optioned left-hander Wesley Wright to Triple-A Round Rock to make room for newly acquired reliever Mark Melancon.

The Astros got Melancon in the deal that sent Lance Berkman to the New York Yankees. The right-hander has been pitching for Round Rock since the trade.

Melancon made two appearances for the Yankees this year. He's spent most of the season in Triple-A, going 7-1 with seven saves and a 3.41 ERA.

Wright, who was recently moved from the bullpen into the rotation, is 1-2 with a 6.28 ERA this season.

Nelson Figueroa will take Wright's scheduled spot in the rotation on Saturday against the Pirates. Figueroa is 3-1 with a 3.38 in 21 appearances for Houston and Philadelphia this season.
