Houston, Texas is undergoing some severe weather issues this week, with flooding impacting the city and surrounding areas. The Houston Astros are on the road at the moment, but manager A.J. Hinch is well aware of the tough situation back home.

As Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle detailed, Hinch had a message to send to residents of the area:

“It’s sad to see our city you know under such duress,” Hinch said. “We see the pictures, we call our loved ones that are back in Houston, our friends our family, and it’s really sad. You know we’re fortunate, you know, we’re here and not having to deal with it face-to-face but we know a lot of our fans, a lot of our family and friends are in the midst of it. So it’s, our thoughts are with them, we care about everyone that’s affected by ‘em and I hate to see the destruction and the city with all the water everywhere and a lot of people that are suffering because of it.”

As for the Astros themselves, Hinch offered this up:

“Our guys are focusing on the game. I know everybody checked with their wives and friends. No player has brought it up to me today. But the TVs were on, the big networks are all covering the area, the president’s talking about our city. So we know it’s a real treacherous situation. Our guys will be ready to play, and hopefully we can bring a little bit of relief to a city that is struggling right now.”

The Astros are scheduled to return back home to Minute Maid Park on Friday, May 29th against the Chicago White Sox.
