Astros acquire pitcher Anthony Bass from Padres

Right-hander Anthony Bass has been acquired by the Houston Astros from the San Diego Padres for a player to be named or cash.
The 26-year-old pitched 42 innings in 24 relief appearances this year, compiling a 5.36 ERA with no decisions. He also was 4-6 with a 5.45 ERA in 15 starts at Triple-A Tucson.
Bass made his big league debut in 2011 and has 4-8 career record with a 4.09 ERA in 18 starts and 57 relief appearances.
The trade was announced Wednesday. Houston also will get a player to be named or cash.
