ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Angels have put third baseman David Freese on the 15-day disabled list after his right index finger was broken when he was hit by a pitch.

The Angels also recalled third baseman Kyle Kubitza from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.

Freese was hurt by a pitch from Mike Pelfrey in the fourth inning of the Angels' seventh consecutive victory, 5-2 over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night.

Freese is batting .240 with 11 homers and 43 RBIs in 90 games as the Angels' starting third baseman. He must wear a splint on the non-displaced fracture for two weeks before another X-ray will determine the next step in his recovery.

Kubitza had six hits and batted .207 during a 12-game call-up in June, making his major league debut.
