Angels lock up Kendrick

Published Jan. 7, 2012 12:00 a.m. ET

The Angels made another move in what has been a monumental offseason, agreeing to a $33.5 million, four-year extension with second baseman Howie Kendrick.

The deal for Kendrick will cover Kendrick's final year of arbitration and his first three free-agent years.

Kendrick, 28, played in 140 games last season, hitting .285 and a career-high 18 home runs. He is a lifetime .292 hitter over six seasons.

The Angels have been baseball's biggest player in free agency this offseason, highlighted by the signings of both Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson.
