Alex Rodriguez was nervous about playing 3rd base because he had already "retired his cup"

After the New York Yankees' 6-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday night, Alex Rodriguez took to the post-game press conference podium for the final time as a player for the franchise.

When asked to describe what his emotions were when Manager Joe Girardi put him at third base to start the beginning of the 9th inning, A-Rod responded with a gloriously awesome A-Rod answer -- elaborating how he had "retired his cup" when Girardi made him the full-time designated hitter, and was "very stressed" being out there without the groin-area protection on.

After the game ended, Rodriguez's interview was a little bit more serious -- as he was overwhelmed with the emotion and realization that his legendary playing career might be over:
