Hinch said Wednesday that Pineda (not injury related) has secured his work visa and will make his Grapefruit League debut Saturday against the Orioles, Evan Woodbery o... Impact Pineda didn't reach a deal with the Tigers in free agency until March 18, with his late signing paired with a work visa issue putting him behind schedule with his buildup program. Now that he's had his visa approved, the 33-year-old will report to camp, but expect him to pitch only an inning or two against the Yankees. From there, Hinch said that Pineda will continue to build up his pitch count at Triple-A Toledo, where he's expected to make a couple of starts to begin the season. If all goes well, Pineda should be ready to make his 2022 big-league debut in mid-to-late April, when he'll likely replace Tyler Alexander in Detroit's rotation.
