Collects seventh win Pineda (7-8) earned the win over Toronto on Friday. He allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
Impact The right-hander wasn't at fault for Toronto's pair of runs in the second inning, but he did allow a solo home run to Vladimir Guerrero in the third. Pineda has won all three of his starts since returning from an oblique strain. He's at a 3.74 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 81:20 K:BB across 98.2 innings overall. The 32-year-old projects for a rematch at home versus Toronto next week.

Five solid innings in win Pineda (6-8) threw five innings of one-run ball against Kansas City on Saturday, striking out three without a walk to earn the victory.
Impact Pineda was making his first start since returning last week from an oblique strain. He pitched in relief in his first game back but was sufficiently stretched out to return to the rotation Saturday, and he responded with five strong innings while throwing 50 of his 72 pitches for strikes. An Andrew Benintendi RBI single in the fourth inning was the lone blemish on Pineda's line. Pineda owns a 3.87 ERA and 79:18 K:BB in 93 innings this season. He's lined up for a tough road matchup against the Blue Jays in his next scheduled start.

Collects win in return Pineda (5-8) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out three in three innings to earn the win Monday versus Cleveland.
Impact The right-hander returned from an oblique strain that kept him sidelined for three weeks. Pineda was able to get the win as a piggyback reliever following Bailey Ober, who allowed two runs in four innings in the contest. The 32-year-old Pineda threw 25 of his 44 pitches for strikes, so it's safe to say he's not built up to a traditional starter's workload after his absence. He has a 3.99 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 76:18 K:BB across 88 innings. It's unclear if he'll work as a traditional starter or a piggyback reliever in his next appearance, but Pineda lines up to pitch at some point during this weekend's home series versus Kansas City.

Activated Monday The Twins reinstated Pineda from the 10-day injured list ahead of Monday's game in Cleveland, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
Impact For the first time all season, Pineda is expected to make an appearance in relief Monday, when he'll be piggybacking starter Bailey Ober. Though Ober may work longer of the two, Pineda could have the better chance at factoring into any decision, given that he'll pitching later in the contest. Pineda was cleared to return from the IL without making a minor-league rehab appearance, after the oblique strain had sidelined him for about three weeks.

SEPTEMBER 3, 2021 • TWINCITIES.COM
Could return Monday Pineda (oblique) will return without a rehab assignment and piggyback Bailey Ober in his next start Monday in Cleveland, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
Impact It sounds like Ober will start the game and Pineda will come in to relieve him, with the two pitchers combining for 6-to-7 innings. It's unclear if Pineda would continue to piggyback Ober or if he would then enter the rotation as a traditional starter to close out the year. Assuming Pineda follows Ober on Monday, it could be an opportunity for him to qualify for a win.
