Ref in Broncos-Ravens game suffered injuries, had surgery

The league suffered one of the biggest losses in Sunday's Broncos-Ravens opener.

Line judge Gary Arthur had to leave the game with injuries he sustained officiating a first-quarter punt return. And according to FS1 NFL Insider Mike Garafolo, those injuries are pretty significant.

It's surprising that officials like Arthur aren't caught in the crossfire more often. They're essentially charged with directing a handful of high-speed collisions for 60 minutes.

Here's hoping Arthur has a speedy recovery and gets back on the field again soon.
