Eagles fans upset at schedule? You might want to ask the pope
Philadelphia Eagles fans might be up in arms after taking a peek at the team's 2015 schedule. Three of the Eagles' first four games are on the road, so what gives? Ask the pope.
According to TheMMQB.com, Philadelphia Archbishop Charles J. Chaput wrote to commissioner Roger Goodell asking the league not to have the Eagles play at home on Sept. 27, when Pope Francis is scheduled to hold mass outside the Philadelphia Art Museum.
So did His Holiness play a role in this tough stretch for the Eagles?
"Yes," NFL senior vice president of broadcasting Howard Katz told the website. "The pope did influence the NFL schedule. My name may be Katz, but I wasn't taking any chances."
The NFL went through 37,793 versions of the 2015 league schedule to get the one that it released earlier this week.
