Cardinals' Catanzaro breaks out the 'dab' after game-winning kick
Maybe Brian Billick was wrong when he said kickers aren't football players.
Chandler Catanzaro channeled his inner Cam Newton after kicking a last-second field goal to lift the Arizona Cardinals to a 34-31 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday night.
Though it was basically the same distance as an extra point, the 32-yarder by Catanzaro represented the first game-winning field goal of his two-year NFL career. So he celebrated the personal milestone by doing the "dab."
“Just a rush, I guess. I just kind of went berserk," Catanzaro said. "I don’t want to run away from the guys, but I think it’s just instinct, maybe from my soccer days."
Although it was not the same full-fledged dab that Carolina quarterback Newton broke out when scoring a touchdown at Tennessee last weekend, an impromptu dance that nearly started a brawl, Catanzaro nonetheless lit up social media with his brief celebration.
There were plenty of tweets of support for Catanzaro's choice of reveling in the victory. And, of course, a few dissenters who apparently share the opinion of Billick.
