What are Jahlil Okafor's Rookie of the Year chances?

When Jahlil Okafor fell to the Sixers at three in the 2015 NBA Draft, it came as a mild surprise.

Most observers projected Okafor to go second to the Lakers after Karl-Anthony Towns went No. 1 to the Timberwolves, but L.A. went with D'Angelo Russell to fill its void at point guard instead.

All of that aside, Okafor is one of the few rookies who may be most ready to make an impact at the professional level in their very first season, and finishing with Rookie of the Year honors remains a real possibility.

Okafor is certainly in the mix, though "definitely" seems a bit bold at this stage of things. Russell could shine with the Lakers in the national spotlight, and let's not forget Emanuel Mudiay, who played professionally in China a season ago and looked to be a few steps ahead of fellow rookies at the NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas.
