West out with sprained left ankle

Published Jan. 26, 2010 7:17 a.m. ET

New Orleans forward David West missed the Hornets' game against Denver on Saturday night because of a sprained left ankle.

West was injured Friday night in the Hornets' 96-94 win over Minnesota.

``It's going to be day-to-day,'' Hornets coach Jeff Bower said. ``He was doing somewhat better today, but not well enough to go, so we're optimistic and hopeful that he will be available for the next game. We'll have to wait and see how it progresses tomorrow up to the game time in Portland.''

West is averaging 17.7 points.
