Washington Wizards Waive Jarell Eddie, Casper Ware and Johnny O'Bryant

Washington Wizards have waived Jarell Eddie, Casper Ware and Johnny O’Bryant after concluding preseason with a victory against Toronto.
Now that preseason is over, NBA teams will begin to trim their rosters down to 15 players, which is the most allowed by the league.
After Friday night’s dominant win over the Toronto Raptors, the Washington Wizards announced that they have waived Jarell Eddie, Casper Ware and Johnny O’Bryant.
For now, it looks like Danuel House, Sheldon McClellan and Daniel Ochefu have survived the cuts. All three players are still on non-guaranteed deals and more moves could potentially happen in the near future.
Out of all the players who were invited to camp, Eddie seemed to have the greatest chance at making the final roster.
The sharpshooter played well during summer league after finishing the 2015-16 NBA season in D.C. Every team in the league has placed an emphasis on 3-point shooting and Eddie was one of the team’s best from deep.
Unfortunately, he only scored 3 points in the three games he played in during preseason. He wasn’t able to carry the momentum over and didn’t get much of an opportunity.
Before preseason started, he was considered a lock to make the team.

Given his experience and ability to shoot, Eddie will likely get a call from another team soon.
Casper Ware was in the same boat, in terms of opportunity.
Ware only played in one game and scored 8 points.
When John Wall was cleared to play, Ware’s chances of making the team declined significantly.
Trey Burke and Tomas Satoransky will man the backup point guard spot for Scott Brooks.
Perhaps most surprisingly, Johnny O’Bryant didn’t do enough to warrant a look for the regular season.
The former Milwaukee Bucks big man played with high energy and contributed in spurts, averaging close to 7 points and over 4 rebounds in four games.
He filled in for Ian Mahinmi, who’s out at least four to six weeks following knee surgery, by helping the team do the little things that it takes to win basketball games. He was an effective rebounder and played exceptional defense.
It was reported that Ochefu would be one of the players to get waived, but the Villanova center will stick around. The Mahinmi injury likely played a part in the Washington Wizards’ decision to keep him.
In the past, Ernie Grunfeld has typically started the season with 14 players on the roster, leaving one spot open for flexibility.
House and McClellan will both provide some depth at the wing. House is more of a traditional 3-and-D small-forward while McClellan has played a scoring role off the bench. Both players are solid defenders and don’t need touches to be effective. Most importantly, they’re both 23-years-old and will have the chance to develop in Washington.
