There was a big sigh of relief from many on Tuesday night. After the Warriors didn’t look exactly like themselves in their first three games, they played like the team many expected them to be against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The team struggled with turnovers in the first quarter, but they were lights out shooting the ball and were able to put up a 34-25 deficit. Then in the second quarter, Damian Lillard and the Trail Blazers started to reel Golden State back in with a big run of their own. There was a familiar feeling to that of the first three games suddenly.

The team was doing fine, but they just weren’t completely engaged yet. That’s when Stephen Curry decided to be the driving force to make the team right. He simply went out and shot the ball and did it in impressive fashion. He would score 23 alone in the third quarter and would shoot 8-12 total in the quarter.

His 23 points and great defense from the Warriors, allowed the team to outscore Portland 41-20 in the quarter. While Curry got right, Klay Thompson still struggled a little bit. The shooting guard still struggled beyond the arc and could not get it quite to fall.

Luckily, the rest of his team did and the Warriors led eventually reached over 30. Garbage time came as the fourth quarter started and Golden State was blowing out a team they have had struggles with in the past. Being able to empty the bench was the most welcome sight of this young season.

The Warriors will now prepare for their home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night. It will be the first time Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook square off since Durant’s departure.
