Thunder travel to the Big Apple for a little fun

“Porzingis is in just his second year, but he’s improved so tremendously from his rookie season that the honor of Best Knicks Player could be his. It’s no shock. Kevin Durant called him a “unicorn” when the Thunder played the Knicks last year. And Porzingis did finish second behind Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns in Rookie of the Year voting. But everything is up this year.”
Going hand-on-hand with Fred Katz’s preview of tonight’s game, I definitely recommend listening to his preview of tonight’s game on the Locked On Thunder Podcast with Jared Dubin. Tonight will be a big test for the Thunder considering New York is 5-2 in their last seven games and 7-2 at home this season. Side note: Kristaps Porzingis may be my favorite non-Thunder player in the NBA.

Dissecting Russell Westbrook’s greatest tool
“The shot is easy money, and the Thunder would reap even more dividends if Russell would trust the attempt solely on its merits. By that I mean just shooting it without trying to create more than the high-percentage two points the shot produces when properly executed. No frills, no flash, merely doing it like Dad taught. Simple and pure.”
If there’s any reason to click this link, it’s because you’ll get to see a long-lost friend: the Kirk Goldsberry Heat Map. RK Anthony over at Welcome to Loud City does an absolutely awesome job dissecting Russ’ shot down to the use of his left foot while in mid-air; it’s a fascinating read that will make you sound really smart when talking to fellow fans.

What did Jeremy Lamb do Saturday night?
“What Lamb did was step up. And up and up. By the time he was through, Lamb rung up 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Hornets in snapping their four-game losing streak with a 107-102 win over the Knicks. The 36 minutes Lamb played were the most in a single game in his five-year NBA career.”
Yeah I’m a day late, but there was just too much to cover in yesterday’s edition. Homie really had 17 rebounds in an NBA game after averaging 2.7 for his career. Lamb looked like a legitimate NBA player for the the first time in awhile, and it makes you wonder what could have been in Oklahoma City…lol just kidding.
