Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns loves video games and Gatorade

Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns‘ busy summer concluded with a video game tour, plus another Gatorade promotion.
Timberwolves fans no doubt already knew that Karl-Anthony Towns is self-proclaimed “nerd” when it comes to video games, but his most recent video game adventure went even deeper.
Yes, Towns has already announced his own individual rating from NBA 2k17, leaked the Timberwolves rating as a team, and made an appearance at the Call of Duty World League Championship alongside U.S. Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps and retired NFL star Marshawn Lynch, but he recently went a step further.
Towns accompanied DraftKings on a visit to the VideoGamesNewYork store, which is essentially the holy grail of vintage video games, consoles, and accessories.
KAT showed his truly nerdy side, all while wearing a pretty amazing and apparently custom Rookie of the Year shirt…check out the front and back of that situation below, or click this link.
The best thing about Towns when it comes to interviews, both basketball-related and completely separate, like the above, is how genuine he seems. KAT loves video games and would love to talk to you about them, basically. And he means it.
That even extends to his most recent promotion with Gatorade. You may have seen some of the previous “Burn It To Earn It” commercials featuring J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans or Bryce Harper from the Washington Nationals.
But now, as KAT would say, you’re in Towns’ Town. The first three videos in the below playlist are Towns dunking, using his height to deny an unfortunate woman a delicious Gatorade, and playing smothering perimeter defense. (Wolves fans have seen that before.)
Towns is such a natural actor and pitchman. It’s incredible how much he’s already done this off-season after just one year, but it’s going to ramp-up even more in a hurry.
It won’t be long before he’s the Minnesota-based athlete with the largest base of endorsements and national/international recognition, if he isn’t already.
It’ll be interesting to see what commercials and promotion could be rolled out once the season begins. Besides, we don’t have too long to wait now…
