Here's a little international intrigue for you in advance of NBA training camps opening next week.
Pau Gasol was fantastic in leading Spain to the EuroBasket title this summer, so much so that he scored 40 points in one contest and took home tournament MVP honors.
He was so dominant at age 35 that one French blogger has been insinuating that he's doing something which would give him an unfair (and illegal) advantage.

The president of the Spanish Sports Council (CSD), Miguel Cardenal, has spoken to the president of the Spanish Basketball Association (FEB) to investigate the possibility of taking legal action against the Le Monde blogger who insinuated that Pau Gasol has been doping.
"We're going to work hard so that when someone does something so morally reprehensible, they have to answer for it in court," stated Cardenal.
"Gasol is a colossus, a giant, a role model for our country and our sport," added Cardenal. "He has countless tests in Spain and abroad, it's unimaginable to think these claims have an ounce of truth. The prestige of Spanish sport is in the balance."
We don't know about all that. But based on the mere possibility of something like this going down (the legal action, not the alleged doping), we do know that the Spanish take their basketball extremely seriously.
