Sacramento Kings are the latest NBA team to sell jersey ads

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:57 p.m. ET

The Sacramento Kings have become the latest NBA team to sell ad space on their jerseys. The team announced a new partnership with Blue Diamond Growers -- a popular Sacramento-based almond company -- on Monday that will include a logo patch on Kings' jerseys next season.

With the three-year agreement, the Kings will receive roughly $5 million annually to display the Blue Diamond logo on their jerseys with a 2.5-by-2.5 inch patch on the left shoulder, as well as floor advertising on their home court and concessions around the arena.

Sacramento joins the Philadelphia 76ers as the only two teams who have sold jersey ad space so far. The Sixers will also pull in around $5 million annually thanks to their deal with StubHub. Other teams around the league are reportedly holding out for more money in a possible sponsorship agreement.

One would imagine that if the Kings and Sixers can command $5 million then some of the league's higher-ranking teams at the moment — such as the Warriors and Cavaliers — would be justified in demanding double or even triple that amount.
