TNT basketball analyst and former Suns GM Steve Kerr is the top candidate for the head coaching openings with the Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers, the New York Daily News reported.

The Warriors opening comes after Mark Jackson was fired Tuesday, and Golden State quickly reached out to Kerr, with a source telling the Daily News that the job is Kerr'€™s should he want it. Kerr worked with Golden State president Rick Welts while the two were in Phoenix, and Kerr has a reported good relationship with Warriors owner Joe Lacob'€™s son, Kirk.

Kerr has also been wooed by one of his former coaches in Phil Jackson, who now is the Knicks'€™ president of basketball operations. However, a source told the Daily News that Kerr is concerned about the Knicks'€™ upper management, especially owner James Dolan because of his hands-on ways.

Golden State likely provides the chance for the most immediate success among the three positions, given the Warriors were the only team to make the playoffs and won 51 games this past season. The Daily News reports that Kerr is expected to make his decision by Thursday or Friday.

The Warriors lost in seven games to the L.A. Clippers earlier this week in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
