Report: Nuggets offer 'Melo $65M extension

Carmelo Anthony doesn't hit the free agent market for another year but could land a big contract extension from the Denver Nuggets this summer.

Anthony told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday that he is mulling a three-year extension from the Nuggets worth about $65 million. Anthony is under contract for 2010-11 and would be the prize of next year's free agent class if he doesn't sign a new deal in Denver before then.

The Nuggets aren't commenting on the report and Anthony's agent, Leon Rose, didn't return a message from The Associated Press.

Anthony averaged 28.2 points and 6.6 rebounds last season but the Nuggets were eliminated by Utah in the first round of the playoffs.
