Report: Boozer's expected departure from Bulls is 'done deal'

The Chicago Bulls reportedly have made up their minds about Carlos Boozer.

The two-time All-Star's departure from the team is a "done deal," the Chicago Sun Times reports. The team has notified Boozer's camp of this decision, according to the report.

Chicago has explored sign-and-trade possibilities but has not found any takers for the $16.8 million Boozer is due next season. The team is expected to amnesty the final year of Boozer's deal, which would then not count against the salary cap.

The Bulls reached out to the New York Knicks in an attempt to pull off a sign-and-trade deal for free-agent forward Carmelo Anthony, but the Knicks balked.

Boozer, who has played the past four seasons in Chicago, averaged 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds last season -- his lowest averages since joining the Bulls. The emergence of reserve forward Taj Gibson reduced Boozer's playing time last season, making him expendable.
