Part two of With every release of the NBA 2k series, improved graphics is preached as being leaps and bounds above the previous year’s. Lets see how the Memphis Grizzlies’ players’ digital versions in NBA 2k17 match up with their real-life figure.
Part 2 of Beale Street Bears’ #2kDay
As I’m sure you’ve heard, NBA 2k17 has released yesterday to anxious NBA fans. This year, 2k didn’t disappoint, with improved gameplay and an amazing MyCareer. This is one of the best games on the market right now. One of the improved features they added was the ability to scan your face into the game, making the MyCareer game mode seem like it’s really your career. Now, with this comes some amazing player scans and some, well not so amazing scans. Lets see how close they got your favorite Grizzlies players.
Chandler Parsons

Chandler Parsons is one of the OK player scans in the game. As you can see, they did a pretty good job of making him look as realistic as possible. Something is just off though, they didn’t quite capture his boyish good looks.
Zach Randolph

This one is one of the player scans I was more impressed with. 2k did an awesome job of capturing Zach Randolph’s physical features that go along with his stellar post play. They have his “mean mug” down pat, too.
Mike Conley

This is another “just OK” one. While they got pretty close to the real thing, there is something just off. The 2k model just looks like a lesser version of the real thing, much like Jaime Pressly is an almost as attractive match to Margot Robbie.
Marc Gasol

This is my favorite player scan that NBA 2k17 did for the Memphis Grizzlies. They managed to capture almost everything about him, from his facial hair to his wide shoulders, they got it all. Will the real Marc Gasol please stand up?
Personal Scans
These are some of my favorite player scans from actual player using the facescan app. If you were like most people, it took you more than one try to get it right. Let’s look at some of the mess ups.

As you can see between the 2k player scans and the facescan app scans the results were hit and miss. I’ll leave you with the most amazing facescan I have ever seen and it’s probably the best one you’ll ever see.
