Portland's Front Court Needs To Continue Improving

Portland’s Front Court is Still a Work in Progress
The Portland Trail Blazers have been struggling with their front court this year. Although they may not be the best in the NBA, they are still progressing. In short, Portland should still look to go after a PF or Center in this upcoming draft.

To start, they have got to grab more rebounds. Currently, Mason Plumlee averages eight per game, Meyers Leonard averages three, Noah Vonleh four, and Ed Davis five. For Leonard, Plumlee, and Davis, they should all be averaging all around 8-10 a game. If they want to see more wins, they are going to have to be more aggressive & box-out on every shot. Missed shots are going to happen and if they position themselves to get a tip-in, that’s huge for the Trail Blazers.
In the defensive department, the bigs have to be better at not fouling. Our bigs average from 1-3 fouls per game. If the game is close, the Blazers rely on our front court for clutch rebounds. I know the team is young, but falling for a pump fake or slapping an arm can be costly. Especially in the waning seconds of a game. NBA bigs love to pump fake, and the Blazers need to stick to fundamentals and not get in foul trouble.
Let’s just hope that our bigs can start being more of a factor in upcoming games. This will be huge if they can do this. This can easily result in more wins! Go Portland!
