Pelicans to re-sign Jimmer Fredette with hardship roster spot

The Pelicans are 0-6 on the young season, thanks mostly to the fact that they've been completely decimated by injuries thus far.
Things have gotten so bad that the team is expected to be granted a hardship roster exception, and according to John Reid of NOLA.com, Jimmer Fredette will reportedly be re-signed once that happens.
Fredette played 50 games for the Pelicans last season, averaging 3.6 points. He struggled making 3-point shots, hitting only 9-of-48 attempts. New Orleans did not make a push to re-sign Fredette in the offseason as a free agent.

Under the hardship rule, teams are eligible for the exception after four players on a roster miss at least three games. The Pelicans currently have five players out due to injuries.
If approved, Fredette will be extended a non-guaranteed contract by the Pelicans, but he is eligible to remain on the team only until one of their injured players return.
