The New York Knicks will be starting their preseason on Tuesday against the Houston Rockets. However, center Joakim Noah might not play.

The New York Knicks will have their preseason opener against the Houston Rockets, but a nagging injury might keep center Joakim Noah out. Noah has been dealing with a slight hamstring injury that might keep him out on Tuesday against the Rockets.

“I’ve just got to feel it out,” Noah said to the New York Daily News, “and see how it feels tomorrow.”

Noah was one of the key additions in the offseason, but he is also a player that has had injury issues recently. While Derrick Rose has been associated with being injury-prone, Noah has had his health issues as well. A hamstring injury isn’t uncommon at this point in the offseason, and airing on the side of caution will be wise.

For Tuesday, head coach Jeff Hornacek was unsure what the starting lineup would look like if Noah does sit.

“I’m not sure how I’ll do it,” he said to the NYDN. “We’ll see tomorrow.”

Due to it being the first preseason game, Hornacek isn’t going to be using his starters a ton. Building some chemistry will be important, but he doesn’t plan on running his players out there too much on Tuesday.

“They played last night so I don’t know what Mike will do with his guys,” Hornacek said to the NYDN. “We want to play together as a group against those guys (Rockets starters). We’re not going to play them 30 minutes. Probably the most they might play is maybe 20-24 minutes.”

The Knicks have some high expectations this coming season, and that journey begins on Tuesday.
