Derrick Rose made waves when he called the New York Knicks a super team. He’s made yet another bold claim about the Knicks.

The New York Knicks have built a team with recognizable names and noteworthy personas. Carmelo Anthony won the 2013 scoring title, Joakim Noah won Defensive Player of the Year in 2014, and Derrick Rose won MVP in 2011.

Though the new-look Knicks have yet to take the court, Rose is already creating a powerful measure of hype.

Rose infamously called the Knicks a super team, which media outlets around the world have had a field day with. New York’s roster features a number of high-profile players, but there are questions about how much they have left in the tank.

According to Jared Zwerling of NBPA.com, Rose believes the 2016-17 Knicks are the most talented team he’s ever played for.

“I think it’s the most talented team I’ve played on, even though I haven’t played with them yet—just looking at the stat sheet, working out with them. So my job is to come in and get everybody going, then have my spot where I can try to dominate the game.”

That’s a bold claim.

Rose helped the Chicago Bulls win 62 games in 2010-11 and 50 games during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 campaign. Even the 2014-15 Bulls squad won 50 games and took the Cleveland Cavaliers to six games in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Some of his teammates during that time included Carlos Boozer, Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng, Pau Gasol, and Noah—all of whom are multi-time All-Stars.

Some of Rose’s other teammates included Aaron Brooks, Mike Dunleavy, Taj Gibson, Kirk Hinrich, Kyle Korver, and Nikola Mirotic.

In New York, Rose and Noah will team up with nine-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony. They’ll also join forces with rising star Kristaps Porzingis, 3-and-D specialist Courtney Lee, and sixth man Brandon Jennings.

That six-man core, which will be complemented by the likes of Lance Thomas and Justin Holiday, has immense potential.

The question is: can Rose help the Knicks live up to the immeasurable hype?
