The New Orleans Pelicans are holding their breath after another injury to star big man Anthony Davis.

The 23-year-old power forward/center went down with a sprained right ankle in the first quarter of an exhibition game played in Beijing against the Houston Rockets.

He stayed out of the game and was reportedly walking in a boot afterward. The team says it's waiting on tests to see how severe the sprain is.

Davis missed the last 14 games of the 2015-16 with a knee injury that required offseason surgery. He's been active in the preseason action, averaging 16 points in just under 18 minutes in the first three games.

It's certainly not the first time Davis has dealt with an injury in his short NBA career. The former No. 1 overall pick has never played more than 68 games in a season due to a variety of ailments.

But his talent when he is on the floor is tantalizing. The 6-foot-10 former Kentucky star has averaged 20.8 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks for his career. In the 2014-15 season, he finished fifth in MVP voting and made the All-NBA first team.

While we await official word from the Pelicans, ESPN's Marc Spears says a source has told him Davis has a grade-2 sprain and is expected to miss 10-15 days. New Orleans will open its season with an Oct. 26 game against the Denver Nuggets.
