NBA reportedly says Michael Jordan can no longer choose who gets Jordan Brand deal

Michael Jordan is a part-owner of the Charlotte Hornets, and in the past, that fact hasn't affected the ability of Jordan Brand to sign Hornets players to endorsement deals to wear the company's sneakers.
But ESPN's Darren Rovell is reporting that's no longer the case.
The NBA has reportedly said that Jordan can no longer have a part in Hornets players getting these types of deals, because of the way the league's salary cap is structured. It would fall under the same anti-circumvention rules that got the Clippers slapped with a $250,000 fine for including a potential third-party endorsement opportunity as part of the team's free-agent pitch to DeAndre Jordan.
It's unclear at this point whether Hornets players will be banned altogether from signing with Jordan Brand, or simply if some other arrangement will need to be made in order to eliminate the appearance of impropriety.
But when guys like Cody Zeller are getting deals with Jordan Brand, a few eyebrows are going to be raised.
