Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Flip Saunders goes on Twitter rant

Published Aug. 3, 2015 4:00 p.m. ET

Minnesota Timberwolves president and head coach Flip Saunders has been criticized for his inability to embrace the three-point line.

Last year, Minnesota attempted only 14.9 threes per game, which ranked last in the entire NBA. But Saunders isn't interested in that number, and he took to Twitter over the weekend to clear the air.

The year before, with Rick Adelman as head coach and Kevin Love at power forward, the Timberwolves actually attempted as many threes per game as the San Antonio Spurs (21.4).

If Saunders is speaking the truth, expect to see Karl-Anthony Towns, Zach LaVine and Andrew Wiggins unleash fury from behind the three-point line.

Throw in a veteran like Kevin Martin, who's more than effective behind the line, and there's no reason Minnesota should rank below league average in three-point attempts per game next season.
