Mavs' Wright injures shoulder

Published Oct. 10, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Dallas Mavericks forward Brandan Wright has a small, non-displaced fracture to his left shoulder.

The Mavericks said Thursday that surgery for the injury, which happened Tuesday in practice, is not anticipated at this time. The team gave no timetable for his return and said he will be reevaluated weekly.

The 6-foot-10 Wright joined the Mavericks as a free agent in December 2011. He signed a 2-year deal with Dallas this summer. He averaged 8.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks a game while shooting 60 percent from the field last season.

Wright played with Golden State and New Jersey before joining the Mavericks.
