LeBron James ditched headband to look more like teammates

LeBron James has worn a headband throughout most of his NBA career, but it has been over a month since he had anything on his head during a game. LeBron’s reason for ditching the headband has to do with team unity.
“I did it because I just wanted to look like my teammates,” James told Northeast Ohio Media Group on Sunday. “Just wanted to be one. Nothing more than that.”
The catchphrase “All in’ has become Cleveland’s mantra throughout the playoffs. Mike Miller noted that LeBron was smart to give up on his headband if he wants the team to look more unified, because some guys could never pull off the headband look.
“Well, that’s the only way he can [look like us] because I can’t get away with wearing a headband,” Miller joked.
Many believe LeBron wears a headband to cover up his receding hairline, but he obviously isn’t worried about that anymore.
During the playoffs two years ago, LeBron played poorly for three quarters during one NBA Finals game until his headband was knocked off. He then went on a run but decided he would still wear the headband for Game 7. If LeBron starts struggling badly against the Chicago Bulls, don’t be surprised if team unity takes a back seat to superstition.
