Lasorda on V. Stiviano: 'I hope she gets hit with a car'

There has been a lot of outrage over the comments made by now banished Clippers owner Donald Sterling. But at least his old pal Tommy Lasorda has his back. Sorta.

The former Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda made it clear he is no fan of V. Stiviano, who's the subject of the controversial comments by Sterling. Here’s what he told an ABC affiliate in Florida on Tuesday.

“I’ve been a friend of that guy’s for 30 years,” said Lasorda, who was getting an honorary doctorate degree from Northwood University. “It doesn’t surprise me that he said those things. That doesn’t surprise me. And he shouldn’t have said it, and he just hurt himself by talking too much and doing things that he shouldn’t be doing.

“And I don’t wish that girl any bad luck, but I hope she gets hit with a car.”

NBA commissioner Adam Silver banned Sterling last week after an investigation proved that it was his voice on a leaked audio recording, one in which he was talking to girlfriend V. Stiviano about how he did not want her bringing black people to games.

Uproar from players, owners and the swell of public outcry led to Sterling’s ban, and the NBA is now investigating how to force a sale of the Clippers. There could be a long legal battle that ensues over whether or not Sterling can be forced to sell the team, but the entire scandal was berthed after the audio tape was leaked.

Stiviano, who said she did not leak the taped conversations that paint Sterling as a racist, has come under some fire because of the legality of recording a conversation. In California, it is illegal to unknowingly record a conversation without the consent of all parties. Stiviano said Sterling knew he was being taped.
