The team’s preseason opener against the Sacramento Kings took place Tuesday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Luke Walton looked like he knew how to rally his team in the first glimpse of what the new-look Lakers will play like.

Surprisingly, Los Angeles only had 39 points in the first half, with Sacramento accruing a 13-point lead at the break.

The Lakers narrowed their deficit to five points following a 25-point outburst in the beginning of the second half.

Then the fourth quarter came, where the Lakers came out of the woods to drop as many points as they had in the first half in the final frame.

This pushed the team’s score over 100, ending with a final of 103-84.

Veteran Lou Williams lead the team in scoring, with 15 points. Jordan Clarkson also put up a noteworthy performance by scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and an assist.

For Sacramento, Arron Afflalo and DeMarcus Cousins lead their team’s scoring, with 14 and 11 points, respectively.

D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram didn’t seem to have too much of an impact on the game, which was a surprise to some. Russell only had four points, while Ingram didn’t contribute more than two despite the win.

Now that the team can say they have a game under their belt, one that got them a comeback win, the outlook for the season becomes that much brighter.

Top overall pick Ben Simmons is out for an extended period of time in Philadelphia, which means Brandon Ingram is the next big player out of the draft that will garner plenty of attention.

But it seems to not be phasing the Lakers, even with minimal production on his end to start the season.

The next game for the Lakers is Friday when they host the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center.
