LA Clippers Rumors: Xavier Munford, Dorell Wright to be waived

The LA Clippers are reportedly waiving both Xavier Munford and Dorell Wright after inviting them to training camp and preseason.
Well, this isn’t exactly surprising news. The only real question surrounding the future of Xavier Munford and Dorell Wright with the LA Clippers was when they would be waived. Finding a roster spot on the second best team in the Western Conference (that’s my prediction) was never going to be remotely easy or too realistic.
Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical has now reported that both Munford and Wright will be waived on Wednesday, confirming what we all knew would be inevitable at some point.

Both players were signed by the Clippers to participate in training camp and the NBA preseason, giving them both a chance to prove themselves. Ultimately, though, Munford and Wright being brought in was more for Doc Rivers to have some extra depth for preseason and to experiment just in case either player impressed him.

With his three-point stroke and the Clippers’ small forward rotation being one of the weaker parts of the team, Wright had the best chance to make the team over the 24-year-old veteran, but Doc was right to stick with the likes of Luc Mbah a Moute, Wesley Johnson and the new (and promising) Alan Anderson instead.
Munford had a few strong plays in the preseason during his chance to play in garbage time, although he was never going to crack a point guard rotation of Chris Paul, Austin Rivers and Raymond Felton, a proven veteran who looks like a good fit already. The Clippers’ backcourt is simply too strong.
Next for the LA Clippers is working out their chemistry, adjusting to new teammates, and for Doc to figure out more of his rotations and who works best together.
