Kurt Rambis sure doesn't seem like the solution to the Knicks' problems

The New York Knicks have lost nine of their last 10 games and are five games out of a playoff spot in the unpredictable Eastern Conference. But on Monday, they fired Derek Fisher as head coach, a surprising move that isn't necessarily right or wrong.

What is wrong, definitively, is replacing him with Kurt Rambis.

It's only on an interim basis, but with 28 games left in a season that's far from lost, promoting Rambis does nothing to inspire confidence in a team that seemingly needs slight stylistic moderations to improve itself on both ends of the floor.

Everyone already knows what Rambis is capable of. His career record as a head coach is 56-145 -- a deplorable 89 games below .500 in stints with the Timberwolves and Lakers -- and there seems to be little upside to turning over the team to him for two months.

Yeah, about Rambis' time with Kevin Love: Remember how terrible that was? Is there any chance he does the same thing to Kristaps Porzingis? Merely asking the question is merit to strike down Rambis' promotion.

Why not throw a greener coach from Fisher's staff into the fire? How about Brian Keefe, who served as an assistant in Oklahoma City for seven seasons? Or Rasheed Hazzard, who was with the Los Angeles Lakers for their past two championships?
