Knicks' Calderon makes debut against 76ers

NEW YORK (AP) Jose Calderon is making his season debut Saturday for the New York Knicks after missing the first 13 games with a strained right calf.

Calderon is in the starting lineup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Coach Derek Fisher says the veteran from Spain is a ''selfless'' player who ''kind of bonds people together'' and can help a team that came in with a 3-10 record.

Fisher says he wasn't told that Calderon needed to have his minutes limited, but would try not to push him too much.

Calderon was acquired from Dallas in the offseason. He was hurt in an Oct. 20 preseason game and had been expected to be ready for the season opener.
