Klay Thompson says he's still 'starstruck' around Kevin Durant
The Golden State Warriors are getting some early practice in with the Olympic Games this summer.
It's one of the many perks of having a fistful of All-Star caliber players on a single team, and while Stephen Curry opted out of the Olympic gig, Durant opting in on the Warriors means Draymond Green and Klay Thompson are getting in early reps with their new teammate.
And, quite frankly, Thompson still can't believe this thing is happening.
The Warriors shooting guard told USA Today's Sam Amick what it's like to finally be playing alongside Durant, and his own struggles to come to terms with the fact that this man--the Thunder's superstar--is now his teammate.
"We're just kind of getting to know each other," Thompson said. "I'm still in awe of the guy. I'm still kind of starstruck when I'm around him, like 'Man, that's Kevin Durant, you know? He's on our team. That's crazy.'"
Yes, Kevin Durant is an actual player on the Warriors poster. Thompson also confirmed that Durant is an actual human being and not a tall hologram used to sell sneakers.
As great as it is to have a teammate who meshes with your team's chemistry, it's even better to have one who will immediately blend into the team's on-court strategy.
So far, it looks like Durant is doing both.
