Joakim Noah wins NBA's citizenship award

Joakim Noah isn't looking so hot these days. Clearly struggling with his health as his Chicago Bulls face a 3-2 series hole against the Cleveland Cavaliers in the playoffs, many skeptics are wondering whether Noah's career is on the decline.

What's never been questionable, though, is the center's enduring humanity. One of the most memorable, most quotable characters in the league, Joakim is also one of its most generous. The NBA recognized that today, by naming him the recipient of their annual Walter Kennedy citizenship award.

Joakim's "Noah's Arc" foundation, responsible for a recent "Rock Your Drop" anti-violence initiative, was cited as a major factor in the NBA's press release.

The honor was voted on by the Pro Basketball Writers Association, and Noah beat out finalists Greg Monroe, Tobias Harris, Zach Randolph and Chris Paul.
