Hornets' Gordon to miss second straight game

Published Dec. 30, 2011 7:36 p.m. ET

Shooting guard Eric Gordon, who hit the winning basket in New Orleans' season opener at Phoenix, is out for Friday night's rematch with the Suns.

Gordon also missed the Hornets' previous game on Wednesday night with a bruised right knee. He is listed as day to day and Hornets coach Monty Williams says he wants to keep it that way by taking a more cautious approach, rather than letting Gordon play through the pain and possibly make his knee worse.

Gordon, acquired in a multi-player deal that sent Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Clippers, scored a team-high 20 points in Monday night's victory over Phoenix.

Marco Belinelli, who scored 13 points while starting for Gordon against Boston on Wednesday, will again start at shooting guard.
