Hornets coach Bower ejected

Published Apr. 7, 2010 10:23 p.m. ET

Hornets coach Jeff Bower has been thrown out of a game for the first time in his young coaching career.

Bower, who is in his first season as an NBA coach, was ejected by veteran official Bob Delaney during the second quarter of the Hornets' game against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.

Bower appeared upset that Bobcats center Tyson Chandler, a popular former Hornet who was traded for Emeka Okafor last summer, was not called for a foul when he blocked consecutive shots by David West.

As Bower protested, Delaney called two quick technical fouls on the coach, the second triggering an automatic ejection.

Bower, who is also general manager, assumed coaching duties after Byron Scott was fired in November.
