Gregg Popovich isn't impressed by the Spurs' record-breaking dominance

The San Antonio Spurs will not break the NBA record for most wins in a regular season. They will not be ranked as the number one team in their conference or be favored beyond the second round of the playoffs.
And yet, these Spurs may be one of the 10 best teams in NBA history. They're 63-12 with the best defense and highest net rating in the league. They regularly rest starters and boost responsibilities within their second (and third) unit at random. It's an approach that's worked well for Gregg Popovich in the past, and no matter how well his team performs in the regular season, he knows nothing matters until the postseason is through:
Popovich can't stop throwing heat rocks whenever he opens his mouth. This quote so succinctly captures everything about his leadership style, and his ability to stay grounded and humble in the face of unprecedented glory.
Yes, being undefeated at home is a big deal. No team in league history has ever done it. But San Antonio doesn't care, knowing they still presumably need to punch through the Golden State Warriors just to appear in the NBA Finals.
An incredibly tough road awaits, but the Spurs already know that. Nothing surprises them, because nothing impresses their legendary head coach.
