Goran Dragic joins Miami Heat teammates for workouts

As Goran Dragic joins his Miami Heat teammates for workouts, Chris Bosh is left as the only player yet to participate this off-season.
Goran Dragic was with the team during the Miami Heat’s informal workouts Wednesday, according to Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Dragic had previously been oversees, playing for the Slovenian national team during qualifying rounds for EuroBasket 2017.
With the departure of Dwyane Wade, Dragic is expected to take on a larger role in the offense this season. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra visited Dragic in Slovenia, but this is the first time the 30 year old point guard has been working out with his teammates.
Pat Riley talked after the season about how he expects Dragic–who he traded two first round picks for two seasons ago–to step up and take on more responsibility. Spoelstra has also been vocal about how he wants to play with a faster tempo, and how Dragic will take a central role in pushing the team’s pace.
Unlike last season when Dragic arrived to camp out of shape as he took care of his wife during a difficult pregnancy for most of the summer, this year is quite the opposite. Now, some are worried that Dragic will be fatigued from his tournament play oversees.
However, after a strong showing in EuroBasket in which he averaged 17.4 points, 8.4 assists and 2.8 rebounds in five games, fans should be hoping that he can continue that momentum. Maybe even inject some of the up-tempo, European pace of play into the Heat’s offense.
The Heat open training camp in the Bahamas on Tuesday.
