With the score tied at 101 and 27.7 seconds showing on the clock, the Philadelphia 76ers called a timeout to draw up one final play in an attempt to get their first win of the season against the Orlando Magic.
Instead, the complete opposite occurred in front of the home crowd at the Wells Fargo Center.
The Sixers turned the ball over following the timeout and, on the Magic’s ensuing possession, reserve point guard T.J. McConnell got called for a flagrant foul on Serge Ibaka with 1.4 seconds remaining in the game. Ibaka went to the line, sank both free throws and the Magic were able to run out the clock from there, securing the 103-101 Orlando victory.
