Former Knick Anthony Mason stable after heart attack, son says


Former New York Knicks forward Anthony Mason is in stable condition following last week's heart attack and follow-up procedures, his son said in a statement Saturday.
The full statement from Anthony Mason Jr.: "My family and I appreciate everyone's support this week, and we are grateful for all of the prayers and well-wishes for our father, Anthony Mason. Our father is now in stable condition and continues to receive expert medical care here in New York as he recovers from his medical procedures. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers."
Mason, 48, spent five seasons of his 13-season NBA career with the Knicks, averaging 9.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game from 1991-1996 with New York. He also played for the Charlotte Hornets, Miami Heat, New Jersey Nets, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks, with whom he finished his career in 2003.
Mason was named to the 2001 All-Star team and won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994-95.
