The Denver Nuggets snap their losing streak against a weak Philadelphia team.

The Nuggets have lost three straight winnable games, but finally they came out of the game with a win. The first quarter was a struggle, as it has been throughout the start of the season, but the Nuggets picked up momentum from that moment on and used big games from Gallo, Murray, and Barton to cruise past Embiid and the Sixers.

Jamal Murray is a beast! In only 23 minutes, Murray added 22 points and overall finished a +11. After being in a slump for multiple games, Murray came out and added his fourth 20+ point game of the season. Will Barton also added his second good game in a row as he ended up with 22 points along with 8 rebounds for his second straight 20+ point game. Barton started the season very solid, and has returned to that state the past few games.

Chandler had a rare off-game as he only scored 10 points, but Chandler still finished with a +7. The Nuggets also committed way too many turnovers, which has been a common theme for the team this season, especially in losses. The turnovers need to stop, as many of them were miscontrolled passes or silly plays.

The Nuggets finished with only 17 assists and 19 turnovers which isn’t a good assist-to-turnover ratio and if the Nuggets had been playing a better team, they could have very well ended up losing.

The Nuggets will need to learn how to take care of the ball as turnovers have already haunted them this season and ultimately have decided a few of their games.

The Studs

Jamal Murray

Jamal Murray looks like a star in the making. He came in off the bench and immediately made an impact in the game. He ended up adding 22 points in only 23 minutes.

So far this season, the Nuggets have ultimately done better when Murray has been in the game and his teammates have had more success due to the spacing that Murray creates. If Murray can continue his great shooting, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise to see an increase in his minutes.

    Will Barton

After missing quite a few games with an injury, Will Barton has come back and played great. In his last three games he is averaging over 19 points and 7 rebounds a game. When Gary Harris returns from his foot injury, the shooting guard spot is going to be very crowded, so seeing great games from Barton is a good sign that the spot will be a competitive battle to win for any of the SGs.

Danilo Gallinari also put in 24 points, but he didn’t do much else.

    The Duds

    Emmanuel Mudiay

Mudiay did not have a good game. He only added 4 points on 1 of 6 shooting and committed 3 turnovers while not having a single assist. Mudiay has been really inconsistent this season, which is why some people have been quick to want to trade him, but at only 20, Mudiay has showed the potential to be a good PG.

    Kenneth Faried

Faried only played 12 minutes, but he only added 2 points and 2 rebounds during his stint in the game. Although Faried has been playing good lately, a game like this would be unacceptable against a better team, even with limited minutes. Luckily, Arthur and Chandler played better than Faried did and Faried’s game didn’t affect the outcome.

The Nuggets will head to Brooklyn next, another very winnable game, where they will face off against a team that isn’t very good in the Nets. The Nuggets will look to start a winning streak to close in on .500 on this road trip.
