A deputy district attorney in Nevada says the $40,000 bail that a Dallas Mavericks assistant coach posted to get out of jail in Los Angeles County can be used to clear up a Las Vegas Strip casino debt that led to a warrant for his arrest.
Prosecutor Samuel Bateman said Thursday that he'll ask a judge to drop felony bad check and theft charges if 43-year-old Darrell Armstrong directs the money to satisfy $37,500 in casino IOUs to Harrah's Las Vegas Hotel and Casino.
Armstrong was arrested Tuesday and freed Wednesday on bail. Los Angeles sheriff's officials say he was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
A Mavericks spokeswoman says Armstrong is back with the team.
