The Cleveland Cavaliers added Dahntay Jones to their training camp roster, leaving all but one of the 20 training camp spots filled.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Dahntay Jones have agreed on a training camp deal, according to Cleveland.com‘s Joe Vardon.

Jones, 35, was released earlier this summer by the Cavs before his $1.6 million contract became guaranteed. Before that, Jones was signed late during the 2015-16 season and was on the postseason roster.

He had a crucial moment during Game 6 of the NBA Finals where he went on a 5-0 run by himself to give the Cavs a strong push heading into halftime. At the time, the Cavs extended their lead to 16 over the Warriors, who were making a push late in the first half to cut into Cleveland’s lead.

The veteran Jones is the 19th player to be invited to the Cleveland Cavaliers training camp. The NBA allows a maximum of 20 players to join a team’s training camp. That leaves one spot for the unsigned J.R. Smith.

Smith is seeking a $15 million per year deal, and he was offered a deal in the ballpark of $10 million earlier this summer by the Cavs. However, he remains without a deal and will not be going to training camp until he has a deal.

Similarly, Tristan Thompson didn’t sign his new deal until five days before the Cavs opened the 2014-15 regular season.

Jones gives the Cavs extra flexibility on the wing with the ability to play either forward position and shooting guard. He already has experience in Lue’s system, and it allows him to join a team that he has already won the Larry O’Brien trophy with.
