Charlotte Hornets Rumors: Discussing a Trade For Greg Monroe

The Charlotte Hornets have reportedly discussed a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks that involves Greg Monroe, Spencer Hawes, and Jeremy Lamb.
A recent rumor has made the rounds surrounding the Charlotte Hornets and a potential trade involving the Milwaukee Bucks. The Trade would send Monroe to the Queen City for Jeremy Lamb and Spencer Hawes. The Bucks’ big man has long been a name on the trade block this summer.
After only one season with Milwaukee, Greg’s time with the team seems to be over. There have been rumors that the team were looking to trade him this offseason. Even though he is a skilled player, it isn’t likely that he stays on the Bucks’ roster past the 2016-17 season.
The Hornets have also been looking to trade both Lamb and Hawes this summer as they were the focal points of some rumors during the offseason. They tried to move Jeremy before free agency started so that they could try to re-sign some key players but that never materialized. Charlotte also were attempting to clear Spencer’s contract from their books when they tried to trade him this summer.

Quick Look at Last Season’s Stats
Monroe averaged 15.3 points per game, 8.8 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game last season with Milwaukee. He played in 79 games and averaged 29.3 minutes per game. The big man shot 52.2% from the field and 74% from the free throw line.
Lamb averaged 8.8 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game this past season with Charlotte. During his first year with the team he played in 66 games and averaged 18.6 minutes per game from the bench and with the second unit. He also shot 45.1% from the field, 30.9% from the three-point line, and 72.7% from the free throw line.
Last season was also Hawes first year with the Hornets but he averaged 6.0 points per game, 4.3 rebounds per game, and 1.9 assists per game. He played in 57 games and made six starts for the team while averaging 18.2 minutes per game. Spencer shot 40.5% from the field, 37.3% from the three-point line, and 83.1% from the free throw line.
This has long been a trade that I have pushed for this summer. (Here and Here.) Although Jeremy Lamb is still a young, developing wing player with potential, the Hornets could use a valuable low post presence like Monroe after losing Al Jefferson in free agency. On the other hand, the team has made it clear that Hawes is not in their plans and they want to move his contract.
It is still unclear whether this trade will be made and the Bucks may have wanted more than just Lamb and Hawes in exchange for Monroe. Although the details aren’t clear, it will be interesting to see if this move is revisited and if the deal will ever completed.
